This session is designed for participants to gain a deeper understanding of the Employment Development Strategist (EDS) role, introduce your regional EDS and explore ways the role may support and benefit your local labor market.

Chantelle Judge has over 25 years of experience supporting Nova Scotian job seekers from both a federal and provincial government capacity. In her current role, Employment Development Strategist, Chantelle is committed to enhancing employment services by helping to identify community led employment initiatives to help job seekers reach their goals. Through her strategic insights and collaborative approach, Chantelle fosters partnerships with various stakeholders, ensuring that employment services are tailored to meet the diverse needs of the community.  

Serena Cassidy is an Employment Development Strategist in the Halifax (HRM) region. Serena uses a collaborative, asset-based community development approach to support the development of local employment programs. She has more than 17 years' experience working in government on programs and policies related to socio-economic growth of our communities.

Christine Moore has a diverse background in stakeholder and rights holder engagement to foster collaborative decision making and informed responses to emerging issues. These include researching and bringing together the most effective mix of subject matter experts from government, private sector, not for profits, academia, and First Nations to consensus build a result that considers a diverse range of values. She now uses this approach to assist the communities on the northern shore of Nova Scotia find solutions to diverse employment challenges of both job seekers and the employer community, while considering equity, urban/rural, cultural, and historical values.

Colette Sexton is an experienced public servant in the Skills and Learning Branch of the Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration and former Executive Director of the YMCA of Cape Breton Nova Scotia Works Employment Services Centres. Colette is dedicated to supporting the employment services ecosystem to respond to local labour market challenges and serve Nova Scotia job seekers who are furthest from opportunity.
