Equips participants with skills to support individuals with disabilities in their career development. Focusing on client-centred strategies, disability understanding, and diversity and inclusion in the workplace, using theoretical frameworks, practical tools, and case studies to foster knowledge, empathy, and advocacy skills.

Welcome to the Disability Management online training program. This training is made up of six modules that will teach you the practical skills necessary for supporting individuals with disabilities through various stages of their career development. You will be introduced to foundational concepts, terminologies, and the historical context of disability, fostering knowledge and an empathetic approach toward advocacy and support. 

Focusing on client-centred strategies, these modules encourage personalized, respectful, and effective interactions so that each client’s unique goals and challenges are met with tailored solutions and support. You will elevate your expertise in managing diverse circumstances, crafting individual action plans, navigating legal responsibilities, and advocating for inclusion and diversity in the workplace. 

Disability Management offers a variety of strategic approaches, from intervention management to post-employment support, all aimed at creating inclusive and supportive environments. The use of theoretical models, research studies, and practical tools will ensure a deeper understanding of the basics and the proper use of interventions. The Disability Management training also incorporates a wealth of first-person perspectives and case studies to enrich the learning experience. 

This training will give you a well-rounded perspective, so you can navigate, support, and advocate for the career development of people with disabilities.

  • You will learn to refine your skills in making precise referrals, ensuring they align with clients’ distinct needs and Return-to-Work Action Plans. 
  • You will be introduced to employment facilitators, increasing your awareness of their roles and influences on clients’ career development. 
  • You will learn to challenge and improve inaccessible hiring practices, promoting inclusive and diverse recruitment. 
  • You will learn skills to refine onboarding processes. 
  • You will understand how personalized support and open communication can build a more supportive environment for individuals with disabilities. 
  • You will learn about the role of resilience in career development and advancement. 
  • You will gain tools to handle challenging discussions and foster career growth using insights from successful leaders with disabilities, highlighting paths toward career fulfillment and success. 
  • You will be provided with essential knowledge about legal responsibilities, sick leave, and disability benefits and your role around these questions. 
  • You will be equipped to guide clients confidently, helping them understand and navigate their rights and responsibilities with clear direction and assurance.

Course Structure
